About Whistler Air

About Whistler AirWhistler Air was started by Mike Quinn in 1986 when Whistler was known primarily as a winter ski resort. It wasn't long however, before word got out about the fantastic summer adventures that awaited the enlightened traveler.

As the resort grew, so did Whistler Air. Starting with a three passenger Cessna 185, a DeHavilland Beaver was added in 1988.

Whistler Air made a large part of wilderness British Columbia accessible to the general public by offering glacier tours, alpine lake landing tours and charter service specializing in Coastal mountain flying.

Our Locaton on Green Lake

In 1994, a unique floating log office was constructed on Green Lake in front of the Nicklaus North Golf Course club house and by the end of that year a second Beaver was added to the fleet. By this time, Highway 99 became a paved road over the Duffey Lake section and the bus tour wave was on.

In 1999, a 12 passenger turbine Otter was added to cope with the rising demand. By offering an excellent way to view the magnificent alpine scenery of the coastal mountains and by providing a knowledgeable commentary about the history and geology of the area, it wasn't long before taking a flight with Whistler Air became a must do on any tourist itinerary.

Over the years, Whistler Air has prided itself in being a valuable community member by working with the municipality of Whistler and the residents of Green Lake to make floatplane use off the lake work for everyone. The disastrous flood of 2003 proved once again the importance of the Green Lake floatplane base when over 400 people were flown out after Highway 99 was closed in both directions for three days.
